Talk about the size of leaves, their colours and how they feel. Then when you are back indoors, allow your child to look at all the leaves they have collected. Encourage them to talk about what they look like and how they feel. Get them to pick their three favourite leaves. Then ask them to choose the paint which most closely matches their leaves. Let them paint one side of the leaf (the veiny side). Then press the leaf firmly down onto the paper. Repeat this process for the other two leaves.
