Feelings Boxes

Skill: Gaining self awareness is extremely important in a child. These activities explore their emotional boundaries, help your child to feel safe and secure, and helping them to recognise their own personal characteristics and preferences. This activity Feelings boxes, helps your child develop their sense of personal identity, and awareness and pride in themselves.

  1. Get a small cardboard box, such as a shoe
    box, and help your toddler decorate it. You
    could use paint, cut and stick different
    papers on it etc…
    Then ask your child to pick out some
    special and precious things and place
    them into the box. It could be a photo
    of you, their favourite toy, a special
    book etc…
    Tell her this is her special box and that
    she can put in things which are important
    to her. This activity promotes security and
    early emotional development.
