Obstacle Course

Skill: Physical development helps fine tune both your child’s gross, and fine motor skills. It is also very important in strengthening muscles, controlling the body and co-ordination. This activity Obstacle course, allows your child to move their whole body, to develop a range of skills

  1. You will need to vary this activity according to
    your child as there can be big differences in
    physical development in this age group.
    Find a space inside or outside (depending on
    weather) to create an obstacle course. Place
    cushions on the floor, use chairs (for crawling
    underneath), you can also use toy fabric
    tunnels.
    The aim of the activity is to encourage your
    child to move their body and judge how to
    place their body.
    Follow up ideas
    Create an obstacle course or a winding ‘path’
    that you toddler had to negotiate on a trike.
