Good For You

Skill: Gaining self awareness is extremely important in a child. These activities explore their emotional boundaries, help your child to feel safe and secure, and help them to recognise their own personal characteristics and preferences. This activity Good for you, helps develop your child's self esteem and confidence, by giving them praise.

  1. Giving praise to a child develops their confidence and self esteem.
Sit your child on your lap. Read a nursery rhyme
to them e.g. Little bo peep has lost her sheep,
    Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill.
Make a big thing of the ending and clap
    as you finish.
Get your child to clap with you at the end
    of each rhyme.
Give them a big hug and lots of praise when
    they clap.

You can find lots of songs and nursery rhymes,
in our nursery rhyme section on iChild, to practice with.
The more you repeat the rhymes the more they
    will get used to them.
