Without your child, decorate a box or use a gift box, then stick a plastic mirror inside. Tell your child there is something very special inside the box that is a secret. You could use this activity with a group of children and ask them not tell anyone else what is inside the box. Build on the surprise by asking what they think could be inside the box. Show your child what is inside the box, if they say ‘a mirror’ then talk about what they see in the mirror. Emphasise how no-one else looks like them and how special they are.
