Building Blocks

Skill: Physical development helps fine tune both your child’s gross, and fine motor skills. It is also very important in strengthening muscles, controlling the body and co-ordination. This activity Building blocks, allows your child to demonstrate increased skill and control, by balancing blocks to create simple structures.

  1. Out of junk cartons or cardboard milk cartons cut
a selection of cubes. Then cover these with paper
and let your child decorate them.
Ask your child to stack the blocks – Don’t worry if
he’s seems more interested in knocking them
down again. Allow him to stack, knock down and
re-stack. He will be practising using his fine motor
skills and having control over objects.

You could ask your child to count the number of
    blocks as he stacks them.
