Sit with your toddler and look at pictures of faces in magazines and books. Ask your child whether they think the person is happy, sad or excited etc... Find a picture of a smiling or laughing child – ask your toddler to describe the emotion of this face. Then ask them to make a happy face. You can play this game on different days and ask your toddler to find a face that matches how they feel.
