Stepping Stones

Skill: Physical development helps fine tune both your child’s gross, and fine motor skills. It is also very important in strengthening muscles, controlling the body and co-ordination. This activity Stepping stones, allows your child to choose ways of moving, so they can experiment with movement and balance.

  1. You will need:
    Some old cardboard boxes
Cut out about 10 circles from old cardboard boxes. The circles
should be big enough for your child to stand on.
Then place these circles on the floor or outside. The gaps between
them should be big enough for your child to jump to or walk across.
You can arrange them in a pattern so that your child has to move in
    different directions.
Then tell your child that they need to walk across these stones
and make sure they don’t fall into the ‘sea’! This game can be
played outdoors or inside – just make sure there is plenty
    of space around the circles.
